"I thought I'd make you aware of some improvements I've been noticing with <name omitted>, which I believe are directly related to his vision therapy.
His body positioning awareness is improving. All last year in gymnastics, he tried and tried to do a cartwheel, with just tiny amounts of improvement. Last week, before this fall's first gymnastics session, he did his best looking almost-cartwheel ever. Balance beams are also easier, as are monkey bars and other similar hand-grab & body-swing activities.
His eyes are more rested and less strained. By the afternoon he used to be rubbing or pushing on his eyes to relieve pressure. He seldom does that even by evening now. It's so rare that now when he does it, I notice and think, "Wow, that used to happen every day!"
His writing is so much better! His letters used to look jagged, like he'd start writing with one eye and subconsciously switch to the other eye partway through writing a single letter, lose his place, and it would just look like it was written by someone with jitters. He's a perfectionist (he doesn't get that from me!), and was very bothered when his letters didn't look the way he wanted them to.
A couple weeks ago he wanted to help me write on the chalkboard, and I was stunned when he wrote an entire WORD, and every letter was similar sized to mine and evenly spaced, and no jaggedness to them. We haven't even been working on writing since starting VT!"

I have to say I am completely happy with every aspect of the help from Melissa and Focus Academy that we have received! Melissa is wonderful! My son looks forward to going each week because Melissa makes him feel comfortable and makes learning fun! My son also did tutoring with Melissa this summer and has made huge progress in his reading! Not only has she helped him improve his scores on tests, but his confidence and self esteem is back up there again too. When I first investigated vision therapy, I looked into a couple facilities (not easy to find!) and found my home at Focus Academy. The money we have spent on my son is for sure not wasted. The office is wonderful as they have been working with my insurance company to see if anything could be paid for by insurance. I have also personally met Dr. Dragoo and she is wonderful as well. They all put our kids first and have great strategies on how to help each individual child!
